Ever since I asked a question and got my answer in the DeviantART forums (forum.deviantart.com/art/gener…
, I have rediscovered my artistic ability and identified the cause of my lack of progress (thanks to ~SomethingIate
) - and have shattered through it. As a result, i've been frequently uploading paintings and even photomanipulations.
Before I realised the problem, my art looked like this:
Now, it looks like this:
Looking back on an old drawing I made about 5 years ago,
made me realise how a particular way of drawing/painting I found was working out very well for me.. After I drew that buzzard, I switched to the lineart way of doing things and my progress stalled for 5 years. ~SomethingIate
made me realise that the way I had been using 5 years ago, which is to draw the substance of an object and not the outlines, worked out much better for me. In digital painting, for example, blocking out the colours or shades of grey instead of drawing lines. And in drawing, sketching lightly with the pencil and forming a shape out of tone, adding to it and erasing from it, "kneading" it into what I want. And perhaps adding lines afterwards.
So i'm happy!
I bought a Premium Membership because I wanted to change my username to mystblade9. I could only pay through paypal, so I got a 12-month one - and why not enjoy it while it lasts?
I am not open for commissions at the moment, because I am practicing my rediscovered way of painting/drawing.
One of my friends, !Blossomywinter
, recently made lots of fanart for one of my original characters: Mittens the Vampire Zombie Rabbit Cat. Each drawing tells a part of the story.. I really appreciate it, !Blossomywinter
And to show my gratitude, his artwork will be the first to ever be featured on my journal
